After finishing the Graphic Design Department of Mimar Sinan University in 1983, she worked as a graphic designer in the textile sector until 2001. In 2007, she started to take miniature lessons from Taner Alakuş at the Classical Arts Training Center of National Palaces Educational Department. She has participated to many group exhibitions some of which were performed abroad. One of the artworks she has produced jointly with Taner Alakuş is exhibited at Çırağan Hotel. Canan Demirel having a vision which is open to innovation, creates up to date artworks by adding classical miniature production techniques to her graphic design knowledge. It is possible to see both pre-Ottoman Byzantine Empire and the Ottoman Empire as well as today.
