Artist: CANAN DEMİREL
Date: 2017
Material: Acrylic & Watercolor
Size (without the frame): 36,5x26,5cm
About the artwork:
"Demirel's use of color goes back to her childhood. She has been fond of color since she was a child and has been painting such that.
Since she was a graphic designer for almost 20 years, her background in this style can be seen easily in her paintings. She can convey her ideas explicitly and straightforwardly through graphic design methods.
One of the most influential elements in her paintings is the mosaics in Chora Church in Istanbul. Chora Church is a medieval Byzantine Greek Orthodox church preserved as the Chora Museum today. Such as this example of the unique history of Istanbul containing Byzantium, Ottoman and present Turkish, Demirel’s works also represent this particular culture in the form of historical buildings in the artistic technique of miniature painting."
